The curved Mimetic Finite Difference method: allowing grids with curved faces

چکیده
We present a new mimetic finite difference method for diffusion problems that converges on grids with curved faces. Crucially, it gives symmetric discrete problem uses only one unknown per face. The principle at the core of our construction is to abandon standard definition local consistency methods. Instead, we exploit novel and global concept P0-consistency. Numerical examples confirm optimal convergence rate real-case configurations having also boundaries.

A mortar mimetic finite difference method on non-matching grids
We consider mimetic finite difference approximations to second order elliptic problems on non-matching multi-block grids. Mortar finite elements are employed on the non-matching interfaces to impose weak continuity of the velocity. Optimal convergence and, for certain cases, superconvergence is established for both the scalar variable and the velocity.

متن کاملCalculation of the steady flow through a curved tube using a new finite-difference method
A numerical method is described which is suitable for solving the equations governing the steady motion of a viscous fluid through a slightly curved tube of circular crosssection but which is also applicable to the solution of any problem governed by the steady two-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations in the plane polar co-ordinate system. The governing equations are approximated by a scheme whi...
متن کاملReal-time cloth simulation with sparse particles and curved faces
In this paper, we present a novel technique for real-time cloth simulation. The method combines dynamic simulation and geometric techniques. Only a small number of particles (a few hundred at maximum) are controlled using dynamic simulation to simulate global cloth behaviors such as waving and bending. The cloth surface is then smoothed based on the elastic forces applied to each particle and t...
متن کاملMixed finite element formulation enriched by Adomian method for vibration analysis of horizontally curved beams
Abstract: The vibration analysis of horizontally curved beams is generally led to higher order shape functions using direct finite element method, resulting in more time-consuming computation process. In this paper, the weak-form mixed finite element method was used to reduce the order of shape functions. The shape functions were first considered linear which did not provide adequate accuracy....
